Dr. Cope has been a loyal provider for The Woman’s Clinic since 1991. He began working with the clinic upon completion of his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center at Memphis. Dr. Cope obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from Birmingham Southern College.
Professionally, Dr. Cope is known for his compassionate bedside manner, his calm and thoughtful approach to managing a wide variety of both obstetric and gynecological issues, and his ability to establish long relationships with his patients, at times caring for and meeting the needs of multiple generations. In addition, he is known for his surgical technical expertise, resulting in excellent outcomes and patient satisfaction. He is extremely well-versed in all types of gynecological surgery; however, his goal is to use modern minimally invasive strategies whenever possible.
“I’m passionate about using minimally invasive surgical techniques to solve problems and get women back to normal living, especially after some have suffered for a long time. Often, I see a patient back 10 days after a robotic hysterectomy, and they look fantastic and feel great!”
Dr. Cope has been fortunate to have a large patient population of women near menopause or post-menopausal. He recognizes that these women often suffer from the deleterious effects of the natural decline of their hormone production. He is an enthusiastic advocate of hormone supplementation, which can change lives, both physically and mentally. At the same time, he remains up to date on the latest scientific studies, ensuring that in all cases, patient safety comes first.
During his 33 years in practice with The Woman’s Clinic, Dr. Cope has had the opportunity to learn from and work with a number of very talented doctors and medical personnel. During his tenure, he has led various medical committees and organizations. Most recently, he served as the Chair of the Arkansas Section of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, where he worked tirelessly with physicians across the state and region to help improve the health and meet the unique needs of women everywhere.
His family and community are the cornerstones of his life. Dr. Cope is married to the lovely Ashley Cope—a former art teacher at Pulaski Academy—and they have four grown children. They attend St. Andrew’s Church and are supporters of a number of charitable organizations. They love to travel and visit new places and will soon meet their goal to visit all 50 states.
